The Chief of Akoti, Nana Oppong Kyekyeku II, has commended the Chirano Sefwiman Foundation (CSF) and Asante Gold Corporation for constructing teachers’ quarters for the communities of Akoti and Etwebo, describing the project as a major boost to education that will help attract and retain teachers in the two communities.
He made the remarks at the handover of newly completed teachers’ quarters to the basic schools in Akoti and Etwebo.
The two projects, undertaken by the Chirano Sefwiman Foundation, are aimed at improving accommodation for teachers serving in the beneficiary communities.
Each facility comprises four self-contained units, with each unit made up of a bedroom, kitchen, toilet and bath, and balcony. Each project cost GHS 650,000, bringing the total investment in the two projects to GHS 1.3 million.
Nana Oppong Kyekyeku II said the provision of decent accommodation for teachers would go a long way to improve conditions for education delivery in Akoti and Etwebo.

He noted that access to proper housing would encourage teachers to accept postings to the communities, remain in the schools and give off their best in the classroom.
He praised the Foundation and Asante Gold Corporation for continuing to invest in projects that respond to the real needs of host communities, saying the intervention would have a direct effect on teaching and learning and would ultimately benefit schoolchildren and their families.
The Municipal Chief Executive for Bibiani Anhwiaso Bekwai, Sebastian Obeng, also praised the Chirano Sefwiman Foundation and Asante Gold Corporation for the initiative, noting that the provision of decent accommodation for teachers would strengthen education delivery in the beneficiary communities and contribute to improved teaching and learning outcomes.
Board Chairman of the Chirano Sefwiman Foundation, Kwaku Sarfo Duah, said the project reflects the Foundation’s continued commitment to supporting education through practical and lasting interventions.
He noted that the Foundation has over the years supported education through the construction of KG classroom blocks for Paboase and Aboduabo as well as its scholarship scheme, which has enabled many young people from host communities to pursue tertiary education.
According to him, the teachers’ quarters at Akoti and Etwebo continue that same commitment by addressing one of the key challenges facing many rural schools, which is the difficulty of attracting and retaining teachers where decent accommodation is unavailable.
Operations Manager of Asante Gold Chirano Ltd, Dodai Oduro, described the project as a practical response to a real need in the host communities.
He said decent accommodation gives teachers greater peace of mind, helps them settle into the communities they serve and places them in a stronger position to focus on their work.
He said the long-term value of the project would be seen in improved stability in the schools, stronger commitment from teachers and better learning conditions for pupils.
He added that Asante Gold Chirano Limited remains committed to supporting development through interventions that are deliberate, relevant and sustainable.
