The Leader of the ruling National Democratic Congress, President John Mahama has said, any aspirant branding himself as the president’s favourite in the upcoming NDC congress should be ignored.
That power to choose is in the hands of the delegates, the President John Mahama said in a statement Wednesday as he extended well wishes to candidates in the NDC national delegates congress slated for December 20.
“Vote for whoever you believe has the capacity and ability to help grow our great party and work with the millions of supporters across the country. As President and Leader, it is who you, the delegates, decide on that I will work with”, the statement ended.
In a run-up to the congress, candidates often adopt measures and tactics which they believe will provide a leverage in a national elections expected to be keen in some positions.
According to the President any rumours of presidential backing suggesting that “he/she is my choice or my preferred person”, should be dismissed “because there is none.”
The Leader of the ruling party urged all contestants to continue to engage in a campaign of ideas and strategies.
“Your prime objective should be how to make the NDC, which is the only party that truly cares for the people of Ghana and continues to demonstrate that through its policies and actions, stronger and more formidable”, he told the candidates.
The NDC will climax its election of executives for a new term on December 20, 2014 in Kumasi.
