The National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) has released names of Scheme personnel whose appointments were terminated over the last twelve months for breaches of the terms and conditions of their employment.
The Authority dispensed with the services of seventeen (17) NHIS employees of various designations for various offences.The designations included Scheme Managers, Accountants, a Public Relations Officer (PRO), a Media Relations Manager, a Claims officer, Regional Assistants, Support Staff, and a National Service person.
Northern Region: Issahaku Saani, Mohammed Issahaku, Yakubu Suhununu, and Adam Moshie Seidu.The following is the complete list of personnel who were sacked.Eastern Region: Bertraund Tanefa Gbemu
Brong Ahafo Region: Jephtah Appau and Stephen Opoku-BrobbeyAshanti Region: Kwakwo Afrifa, Diana Afran Paintsil, Alberta Acquah and Eva Owusu Achiaw.Western Region: Bernard Adjetey Sowah, George Essem Koffie, Emmanuel KangahGreater Accra Region: Akwesi Acquah and Raphael DagaduVolta Region: Evans Raybon AnyadiMeanwhile a statement released by Communications Manager in charge of the Strategy and Corporate Affairs Directorate said in cases where funds were misappropriated, the NHIA is taking steps to recover the sums of money involved.The statement however said “in the instances where offences warranting prosecution were committed, the cases have been referred to the state prosecution agencies for action.”“The Authority is determined to tackle abuse and fraud in the system and is pressing on with financial and clinical audits at various scheme and provider sites” the statement concluded.Story by Jerry Tsatro Mordy/
