Nine men have been arraigned before the Adabraka District Court in connection with a violent assault on one Mutala Yayaa at Darkuman in Accra on 10 September.
The incident, which was caught on video and circulated on social media, showed the victim being beaten by a group of men.
In a statement released on Friday, September 19, police, the suspects Bernard Tagoe, also known as Asa Sese, Nii Eric Martey, Michael Lokko, Felix Adu Mensah, Habib Gusamu, Solomon Assan, Kwame Khalid, Jacob Addy, and Gideon Arthur allegedly attacked the complainant with dangerous weapons, including a cutlass, axe, and scissors. The assault left Yayaa with deep wounds on his head and body.

All nine pleaded not guilty to charges of conspiracy to commit a crime and causing harm. The court remanded them into police custody and ordered them to reappear on 29 September 2025.
The police said four other suspects linked to the attack identified only as Yaala, Show, Joseph Gattor, Savess, and John Km remain at large. A search is underway to arrest them to assist in the ongoing investigation.

In a statement, the Accra Regional Police Command cautioned the public against resorting to violence in settling disputes. It urged community members to use lawful channels to resolve grievances instead of taking the law into their own hands.
