First Vice Chairman of Tema West Constituency branch of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Francis Boadu has described claims of division in the constituency as untrue.
Mr. Boadu said the claims are not credible and are being peddled by people who are ignorant of the real situation.
A leading member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Mr. Kwabena Sarpong on Wednesday told Adom FM Madam Irene Naa Torshie Addo has created divisions within the party since becoming an MP in the area.
Mr. Sarpong, said, until Madam Naa Torshie Addo won the seat, the party was fairly united on all fronts but her actions since she came into office had created factions in the party, a situation he said can derail their chances of coming back to power in the 2012 elections.
Mr. Sarpong’s position was corroborated by a member of the party in the constituency, Kwasi Poku, who said threats have been issued from the MP's camp against her challengers whiles expressing fear that the Tema West constituency primaries could be won based on the highest bidder but not on competency.
Kwasi Poku claimed that the Member of Parliament of Tano-Pankrono, Dr. Anthony Akoto Osei who is allegedly funding Madam Naa Torshie Addo's campaign physically wrestled with him in parliament on Tuesday.
However the Constituency Chairman Francis Boadu denied claims that the executives of the party in the constituency are hatching plans to impose a candidate on the people.
Mr. Boadu said the constitution of the party clearly spells out how such elections should be held and that there is no need to circumvent such rules,” he told Adakabre Frimpong Manso on Adom Fm’s Dwaso Nsem on Thursday.
Mr. Boadu further described as untrue, allegations that executives of the party have asked the other aspirants to step down to pave way for Naa Torshie Addo to stand unopposed.
He stated that all the candidates will be subjected to the vetting process to be properly screened before the April 30 polls.
Meanwhile, Constituency Organiser, Kamkam Boadu has also accused the executives of not being neutral, and are allegedly campaigning for one of the candidates.
In a related development, confusion broke out on Wednesday evening during a local executives meeting, which led to serious clashes between the Youth Organiser Emmanuel Arhin and Kankam Boadu.
Emmanuel Arhin was alleged to have physically attacked and assaulted Kankam Boadu in the heat of the confusion.
The incident has been reported to the Police in Tema 2, for further investigations.
