The National Propaganda Secretary of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC), Richard Quarshigah has launched a blistering attack on the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) describing it as hypocritical, heartless and a criminal entity.
According to him, the posture of members of the NPP for the past three years has been characterized with baseless criticisms of the current government.
Information Minister, John Tia, on Tuesday said President Mills' Action Year promise has been achieved successfully, a position the NPP disagrees with.
The NPP described the President Mills administration as a failure and full of empty promises.
But speaking on Asempa FM’s Ekosii-Sen on Thursday, Richard Quarshiegah noted that the posture of the NPP leadership towards the development of Ghana is negative. “Just listen to Sir John, Nana Akomea and other leading members of the NPP on developmental issues and it is clear that they are anti-Ghana”.
He stressed that all the NPP is aiming at is capturing political power in 2012 but reckoned Ghanaians will reject them for their negative posture towards the development of Ghana.
“NPP is a hypocritical, criminal and a heartless entity that should be rejected by all. Look, after the work of the commission probing Ghana@50 and no member of the NPP was jailed for causing the nation, the NPP hailed Betty Mould-Iddrisu as an Attorney General. When it came to Alfred Woyome being paid a judgment debt of GH42 million, the NPP are calling for the head of Betty Mould-Iddrisu. You see the hypocrisy?”
Commenting on the chances of the NDC in the 2012 elections, he said that the party is on its way to clinching a second term in government.
He said an internal poll conducted by the party shows that President Mills will get a resounding victory in the upcoming Presidential elections.
According to him, the poll was not for public consumption but became necessary since the opposition NPP are claiming the country is moving backwards under President Mills.
Richard Quarshiegah who is a parliamentary hopeful of the party in the Keta Constituency stated that the 2012 Presidential and Parliamentary elections will be issue-based. “It will be a comparison between the first four years of the NPP administration and that of the current Mills-led NDC”.
