Asante-Akim North MP and leading member of Dr Bryan Acheampong’s campaign, says the former Minister for Food and Agriculture possesses unmatched political experience that sets him apart from other flagbearer hopefuls in the New Patriotic Party’s 2026 primary.
Speaking on JoyNews’ The Pulse on Tuesday, June 24, Andy Appiah-Kubi argued that despite facing key contenders such as former Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia and former Assin Central MP, Kennedy Agyapong, Dr Acheampong’s long-standing political journey gives him the edge.
“Dr Bryan Acheampong has been a fourth-term Member of Parliament. Just contesting in one particular election doesn’t give you the experience that he has, having contested on four different occasions to qualify to Parliament,” he stated.
According to him, the experience gained across multiple political roles gives Dr Acheampong deeper insight, knowledge, and the networks necessary to lead both the NPP and the country.
Commenting further on the issue of delegate mobilisation, Mr Appiah-Kubi dismissed the notion that Mr Acheampong's campaign lacked visibility, stressing that strategic engagement was underway.
“Our strategy is not just to advertise before we implement the strategy. Our focus is to implement the strategy and to generate the results. We have met with a lot of people, conferred with them, and some are already working for us,” he revealed.
The NPP is expected to hold an early presidential primary in January 2026 to elect a flagbearer for the 2028 general elections.
