The Executive Director of the Danquah Institute, Mr Gabriel Asare Otchery Darko, has served notice the NPP will hold the ruling government in check. He said the party will make sure the government is accountable to Ghanaians without malice.“The NPP will offer constructive criticism, and support to the government because we believe in Ghana and we all want to make sure that a better Ghana is seen under the watch of Prof. Mills.”Mr. Gabby said Ghanaians will be reminded of how cheap populism is and the need to run away from populist promises.Speaking on Joy FM’s Super Morning Show, the Danquah Institute boss said the NPP will not criticise for its sake.He said the NDC fed on populist sensibilities of the electorate citing an ad produced by the NDC during the campaign and used to suggest that while others in the country are enjoying the majority are suffering.“The first thing we (going) to do is to see how far they can go in actually realising their promises while at the same time showing the alternatives”.He faulted President Mills for delaying and appointing his cabinet saying that detracted from his promise to "hit the ground running" as soon as he was declared President. But an aide to the President, Koku Anyidoho, said the President was taking to do the right thing.“Prof. Mills is not going to work to please Gabby,” he snapped.Story by Malik Abass Daabu
