The Member of Parliament (MP) for Nsawam-Aburi constituency in the Eastern Region, Mr. O. B. Amoah has called on the New Patriotic Party (NPP) delegates across the country to vote for Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo in the upcoming delegates congress on August 7 to enable the party return to power. Citing reasons for his endorsement, Mr Amoah said Nana Akufo-Addo has a vision for the NPP, and touted his popularity on the ground, which he believed would be easy to market to the country. According to him, Nana's billboards, T-Shirts are found across the nooks and crannies of Ghana, with his name being on the lips of all and sundry. The Nsawam-Aburi MP, who was speaking at an NPP durbar for Nana Addo at Nsawam last Saturday, intimated that Mills comes nowhere near Nana Akufo Addo in terms of governing a nation, adding that with the kind of hardship that the Mills-led government has imposed on Ghanaians it was important to get someone to rescue the economy, and that person is Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo. Buttressing his argument, Mr. O. B. Amoah maintained that Nana's commitment and loyalty, cum the role he has played in the party over the years was marvelous and therefore it is about time that he was rewarded. He also described Nana Addo's 49.9 percent votes he obtained from the 2008 election as ‘very marvelous’ since no NPP candidate has been able to achieve such a result in his first attempt in general elections, and therefore, called on the delegates to vote massively for a resounding victory in the flagbearhip race to send a signal to the rest of the country that the NPP is a united party in order that they will also add their votes to that of the NPP to ensure the part return to power come 2012. According to the MP, he is confident that the delegates will listen to him and vote massively for Nana Addo to become the president. On his part, Nana Addo expressed excitement over the expansion of the NPP electoral college to include the foot soldiers or those at the grassroot because they do most of the work of the party, including protecting the ballot boxes for the party and selling the party's messages. Nana also bemoaned the fact that the NDC party that claims to be social democrat has virtually collapsed the NYEP and NHIS, and promised that when given the mandate he will revive them and make the secondary education free for all.
