The National Communication Authority (NCA) has disclosed that over 10,000 network subscribers have re-registered their SIM Cards via the self-service app.
The Authority has also said it is refunding monies to persons who were charged double for using the app.
The Deputy Director for Consumer and Corporate Affairs at the National Communications Authority, Kwame Gyan revealed this.
He added that 50,000 Ghanaians have also downloaded the app.
“The numbers are actually encouraging. Prior to Sunday, we had just about 5,500 people registering with the app. Before midday Monday, we had an additional 1,020 people register. As I speak we have 10,000 people who have registered via the app.”
“We also have about 50,000 downloads so far. We realised that there are some people who are trying to register via the app but are unable to because of a mismatch between their Ghana cards and phone numbers.
We urge people to crosscheck the numbers when registering so we don’t have such difficulties,” he said at a presser.
The Authority rolled out the SIM Card Re-Registration Self-Service app on the Google Play Store to provide an alternative for telecom subscribers to complete their SIM card re-registration at a GH¢5 charge.
However, following a successful rollout of the app, some users have complained of having been charged double for using it.
The NCA has assured of refund to all of such persons.
