The Akufo-Addo government is expected to know its fate on the 2022 budget later this morning.
The debate on the budget which began on Tuesday, November 23, witnessed drama and intense exchanges from both sides of the political divide.
But the tempo is expected to go up a little higher today with the minority threatening to subject the approval of the policy document to a vote.
This notwithstanding, the Majority Caucus has also assured of its readiness to match the NDC MPs boot for boot paving the way for more drama during the accompanying vote.
Minority leader Haruna Iddrisu and the Majority chief whip, Frank Annoh Dompreh have already drawn the battle lines ahead of today’s conclusion of the budget debate.
"I’m serving you notice that tomorrow I intend to invoke the letters and …of Article 104 of the Constitution where leadership concludes on this matter and a vote will be taken where we stand on these budget policy principles and what it contains," said Minority Leader, Haruna Iddrisu.
The Majority Chief Whip, Frank Annoh Dompreh also replied to Mr Iddrisu’s comment saying: “We’ve taken a queue and as such we will also position ourselves properly and Speaker, I can assure you that tomorrow s tomorrow you will have a full packed house here ready to do battle and do proper battle with our colleagues in the Minority in the minority, so be ready invoke Article 104 for me ready to meet you accordingly."
The Speaker of Parliament Alban Bagbin however cautioned the majority caucus to be careful of its stance.
“You will not get the time every day to find your house to get you your decision and so if you continue that way, and the others decide not to do business with you, you will be losing some critical matters by surprise. That is why I said let’s end lessons last name lessons tomorrow be very critical day, we will take a very serious decision,” he said.
