For the next five weeks, motorists who use the Tema motorway will have to brace themselves for some vehicular traffic.
That is because part of the motorway will be closed to traffic to allow for the Ghana Highways Authority to begin repair works on a damaged bridge on the road.
Early Wednesday morning, commuters complained of heavy traffic due to the repair works on the bridge located at the abattoir end of the road.
Myjoyonline.com's Agbeko Ben Cuofie reported of cracks that have developed on the bridge which he said was a threat to human life.
The Highway authority barricaded the area early in the morning to prevent any accident from happening.
Some motorists who later spoke to JOYNEWS also expressed frustration about the situation.
The minister of Roads and Highways, Alhaji Amin Amidu Sulemani told JOYNEWS an alternative route will be created for commuters until the work is completed.
He pleaded with commuters to be patient and bear with the contractors as works on the bridge will be completed in due time.
