The people of Ave traditional area in the Volta Region have expressed gratitude to the President, John Evans Ata Mills, for creating the Ave District which will bring governance and development close to the people.
“We are very happy because the new district will accelerate the pace of development, creation of employment, strengthen unity and also deepen the relative peace that the area is noted for,” they stated.
This was contained in a press release signed by the General Secretary of the Ave Development Union (AVEDU), Mr. C.C Ahiagbede, and issued in Ho at the weekend.
“We assure you that we will take advantage of the opportunity and work assiduously to develop the area economically, culturally, and politically so as to catch up with the existing districts,” the release stated.
It also extended thanks to the Member of Parliament for Ave-Avenor Constituency and First Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Mr Edward Doe Adjaho, the District Chief Executive, Mr Peter Nortsu-Kotoe, and other stakeholders for contributing in diverse ways to make the dream a reality.
The release called on citizens of Ave home and abroad to accept the challenge that came with the creation of the new district, stating that “a real battle has begun” which behooves the national officers to roll out a programme on ways to complement the government's efforts to develop the new district.
It advised the media to always contact AVEDU for information as it remained the official mouthpiece of the Ave area and was connected with its development.
