A wreath-laying ceremony was held on Thursday, July 24, 2025, at Asomdwe Park in Accra to commemorate the 13th anniversary of the passing of former President John Evans Atta Mills.
Addressing the gathering, President John Mahama said the annual memorial should be regarded as a national duty and an opportunity to reflect on the late leader’s legacy.

“If there’s one lesson we draw from the life of President Mills, it is that no challenge is insurmountable when we lead with integrity, when we listen with empathy, and when we govern with principle,” Mahama said.
He also linked his administration’s Reset Agenda to the strong foundation laid by the late President Mills through the Better Ghana Agenda.

President Mahama described the late president's leadership as an era defined by service, integrity, and principle, rather than political insults.
A total of six wreaths were laid during the ceremony. One was laid on behalf of the widow, Mrs. Ernestina Naadu Mills, by Krowor MP Agnes Naa Momo Lartey, with support from Greater Accra Regional Minister Linda Akweley Ocloo and Minister for Fisheries, Emelia Arthur.

President Mahama laid a wreath, assisted by Vice President Prof. Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang. The Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin, together with members of the Majority Caucus, also laid wreaths.

The National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress, Johnson Asiedu Nketia, also laid one wreath on behalf of the party, while members of the John Evans Atta Mills Memorial Heritage (JEAMMH) also paid tribute with a commemorative wreath.
