A portion of the Sodom and Gomorrah one of the most popular slums in Ghana has been demolished by a taskforce spearheaded by Accra Metropolitan Authority rendering hundreds of residents homeless.
The demolition was triggered by the recent floods and fire disaster which claimed over 150 lives at the Kwame Nkrumah Circle a suburb of Accra.
The three-day exercise has severely affected women and children who were seen in desperate search for a shelter from the sun rays, Tuesday afternoon.
Talata Issifu, who is carrying an eight-month-old pregnancy with her three children had her house demolished as well. She does not know where to go with her children.
Experiencing some labour pains, Talata was handed a small umbrella by a good Samaritan and she enjoyed the shelter the unmbrella provided. She was shocked her house was no more because she was made to understand that she would not be affected by the demolition.
Securing a place for her children was Talata’s headache.
