Barrister-at-Law, Phyllis Akutale Asinah, Esq has been appointed as a Member of the Global Governing Council and Corporate Corps for the Young African Women Congress (YAWC) Network.

The YAWC Network is a confederation of young women of African descent in Africa and in the diaspora, who seek to be empowered and be themselves, change-makers for leadership and development on the continent.

At the heart of its mandate, the Network indulges itself in the mobilisation of women from the grassroots level for leadership and development through advocacy, training and projects.

The appointment of Ms Akutale Asinah – which is for a period of two years renewable upon completion of a tenure – was contained in a letter addressed to her by the Founder and Executive Chairperson of the YAWC Network, Daniel Osei Tuffuor, in which he commended her on her appointment and wished her well in her new roles.

In her roles as a member of the YAWC Global Governing Council and Corporate Corps, Ms Akulale Asinah will be expected to contribute to the development and implementation of the organization's short term, medium term and long-term strategic plans, including setting goals and objectives and ensuring that they are achieved.

She will also analyse impact trends and industry developments to inform strategic decision-making; participate in the review, discussion, and approval of policies and procedures that govern the organization's operations; as well as ensure policies are aligned with the organization's mission and legal requirements.

Additionally, she will also be expected to represent the organization in external stakeholder meetings and community events; foster positive relationships with key stakeholders and build community support; provide guidance and direction for the mobilization of resources for the organization; and review and approve programs for the Network while formulating, reviewing and approving projects for the organization.

A Barrister-at-Law from the Ghana School of Law and a Member, Ghana Bar Association; Phyllis Akutale Asinah, Esq holds a Bachelor of Laws LLB from the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration; a Bachelor of Arts Social Work with Sociology from the University of Ghana; Diploma in Public Relations from the Institute of Journalism now the University of Media, Arts and Communications (UniMAC-GIJ).

She also holds an Executive MBA from the University of Ghana Business School and is a Chartered Member of the Chartered Institute of Human Resource Management, Ghana.

Her legal practice areas include but not limited to, labour, matrimonial, commercial and advisory services, children’s and gender advocacy, legal due diligence for employment and services contract.

Lawyer Asinah also has extensive experience in administration and management. She is an efficient and versatile individual with over 20 years’ experience in HR and Administration with concentration in Employee and Labour Relations and HR policy development and implementation.
