A Ghanaian entrepreneur and child’s rights advocate, Matilda Hammond, has been elected as the Global Vice President of the prestigious Young African Women Congress (YAWC) Network, in an election by the member countries.
Having successfully completed her tenure as the President of the Ghana Chapter of the Network, Ms. Hammond is expected to bring to bear her experience, leadership, and vision to further advance the Network’s mission of empowering women across Africa and beyond.
The YAWC Network earlier this week, conducted its 2025 global elections to elect officers to manage the affairs of the Network on the global stage for the foreseeable future.
In a well-conducted exercise, with 56 out of a total of 60 expected voters from across six out of a total of seven electoral colleges from six countries participated in the process.
“For the position of Global Vice President”, declared Stella Ayerango, Chairperson for the YAWC Network Global Elections Committee, “we have Ms. Matilda Hammond from the Ghana Chapter!”
In his remarks shortly after receiving the news, Founder and Executive Chairperson of the YAWC Network, Daniel Osei Tuffuor, congratulated Ms. Hammond on her election into the high office of Global Vice President of the Network.
He assured her of his continuous support in advancing the goals and aspirations of the Network for the greater of the young African woman both at home and abroad.

Deeply passionate about social change, Ms. Matilda Hammond, is a women’s and children’s advocate and a dynamic social impact leader.
She is the Founder of Tilly & Friends Foundation, a nonprofit organization dedicated to uplifting orphans and underprivileged children by providing essential support, healthcare assistance, and mentorship.
The foundation, through her leadership, has executed numerous outreach programs, including donations to orphanages and community development initiatives.

She is the Founder of Tilly’s Fashion Nook, a thriving retail business specializing in luxury women’s shoes, bags and clothing. Through her brand, she curates sophisticated fashion pieces that embody style, elegance and confidence.
Her professional journey also includes co-founding Mat’s Bakery, a business venture that reflects her entrepreneurial versatility.
With a strong background in leadership, business development, and advocacy, Ms. Hammond is committed to fostering economic empowerment for women, leveraging innovation, and driving meaningful change across Africa and beyond.
