In parts of Ghana, schoolyards have been replaced by mine pits and childhood by hard labour. Children as young as seven are trading books for shovels, caught in the toxic grip of illegal mining.
Today, stakeholders from government, civil society and local communities are gathering at the University of Ghana for a critical dialogue led by OAfrica. The theme: "The Poisoned Playground: Ending Child Labour in Galamsey."

This live conversation will explore the urgent steps needed to rescue and protect the most vulnerable victims of galamsey - our children.
