The Bono Regional Police Command has arrested one kingpin, Evans Ameyaw, aged 25 at Buoko near Chiraa for possession of stolen items and Narcotic Drugs.
Chief Inspector Thomas Akeelah, Public Relations Officer for the Bono Regional Police Command, said the arrest followed receipt of credible information about criminal activities in dealing with the sale of stolen motorcycles and tricycles in the area.
An intelligence-led operation conducted by a team from the Regional Police Intelligence Directorate (PID) led to the arrest of the suspect on 23/10/2025, at Buoko, near Chiraa, in the Wenchi Municipality of the Bono Region.

During interrogation, the suspect admitted to collaborating with others in perpetrating this crime. A search by the police in his room led to the retrieval of four motorbikes, two tricycles, and seven compressed slabs of dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp.

All the aforementioned exhibits have been retained for evidential purposes. Stringent efforts are underway to apprehend other suspects involved in the syndicate.
The suspect is currently in custody and is assisting with investigation particularly in tracing the owners of the stolen properties to restore ownership. Meanwhile, efforts are underway to prepare the case for prosecution.
