The Tema Police Commander, Deputy Commissioner of Police, DCP Jonathan Yakubu has cautioned hotel operators in the area to be wary of the activities of some of the people who lodge at their hotels
He, however, advised the hoteliers to keep up-date records of all lodgers and to alert the Police on any suspicious behaviour such as those who go out only in the night and sleep or loiter around during the day.
"When this is done the criminals who most often plan their operations at secret places before striking will be apprehended', he added.
The Regional Commander, who was interacting with the new executives of the Hoteliers Association at Tema reminded that the Police alone could not achieve the objective of protecting life, property and detection of crimes without the assistance of the public.
He added that “your information would be very essential to enable us curb cross-border crimes and others that are planned in secret” and stressed the need for members to also strengthen their security, as a lot of people would be joining Ghana to celebrate its 50th independence anniversary as well as the African Cup of Nations.
The second in Command, Assistant Commissioner of Police, ACP Ransford Ninsin, gave the assurance that the Police would maintain constructive partnership with the members and asked them not to hesitate to call on the service for any protection.
The Chairman of the Association, Nana Kojo Opei V, expressed the hope that such interactions would keep the members informed on security matters and to check the activities of criminals in their hotels.
Other members of the executive include David Nobel Akiti, Vice Chairman, Emmanuel Geaddu- Assendo, Secretary and Simon Owusu.
