The Western regional police have re-arrested three convicts who broke jail three days ago at the Hiawa prison, Joy News has learnt.
The three broke jail on the 28 April 2015.
The three convicts' identities became known when locals in the town caught the three stealing diesel; which they claim they were going to use to engage in galamsey. The locals reported them to the police, who swooped in to arrest the three.
The Western Regional police is preparing to give full details of the case.
The jailbreak is the fifth reported incident this year. Three recorded in the Ashanti region and one in the Volta region including the latest incident in the Western region.
The reported frequency of jailbreaks has been blamed on poor police supervision and weak physical state of Ghana's prison cells, some dating back to colonial Gold Coast.
