The police will be reviewing its next line of action for security measures for the residents of Donkorkrom following a fact-finding visit by the Inspector General of Police (IGP), John Kudalor.

Police had threatened to withdraw all officers in the area following attacks on the police last Friday.

Today during engagements with the chief, opinion leaders and residents of Donkorkrom, asked the IGP to transfer the officers from the Afram Plains district and bring new officers.

However, the residents commended the IGP for coming to review the situation himself.

"I am very happy that he has come being the chief in charge of the police. We know he thinks about Afram Plains and I know the tension will come down," one resident told Joy News. 

"Somehow I am disappointed that my own people will go ahead and attack the police, somehow too I am not because how they reacted made us angry, that is why they did that. I don't think they were targeting the police. It is how the police reacted that it went the way it did, I am not disappointed," the resident added.

Another resident also told Joy News he is happy the IGP is in town, however, he is wondering why 'we are ignoring the main issue.

According to the resident, 'someone attacked the car and live was lost, but we are not talking about that. We have been here with the police for years besides the demonstration was not carried out only in Donkorkrom.'

The resident said the police are not their enemies adding they are not saying all the police are bad, neither are they saying they are all good.

'We plead with the police and the IGP, the information he may have got is not accurate. When two people disagree you need to listen to both parties," the resident said.  

IGP, John Kudalor, interacting with police officers in Donkorkrom in the Afram Plains district expressed solidarity despite their attack from the residents.

"Congratulations for a good job done, at least despite the magnitude of the attack as we were monitoring from Accra.You acted professionally in making sure that you would dispel the crowd with the minimum force that was needed," Mr Kudalor said.

He spoke about how proud he was with the police adding he was "feeling uneasy especially considering how the information was flowing."

"We were very very sad because to the best of our knowledge there was no reason those of you left at the back by the escorting team would be attacked...because the thing happened far far outside your domain," the IGP said.  

During an interaction, the IGP indicated that the police remains committed to ensuring safety. 

When the IGP visited the palace of the chief, the Attakorahene of Affram plains, Nana Akuamoah Boateng, he criticized police inaction on the actions of the nomadic herdsmen.
