A private funeral ceremony has been held for the late former Council of State Chairman, Prof. Kofi Awoonor.
The ceremony took place on Thursday October 3, 2013, at an unknown location.
Reports say not more than 250 persons attended the ceremony. That was the request of the late Prof. Awoonor before his untimely death.
The intelligent poet was killed in Nairobi, Kenya on September 21, 2013, when suspected terrorists linked to Al Shabab ceased the Westgate Shopping Mall for four days.
His son, Afetsi, however survived gunshot wounds.
A public funeral will be held at the State House on October 11, which will be followed by final funeral rights in his hometown at Weta, in the Volta Region on November 9, 2013.
