Residents of Akwatia in the Eastern Region have been thrown into a state of shock and grief following the sudden death of their Member of Parliament, Ernest Yaw Kumi.
The unexpected news has sent ripples of sorrow across the constituency, with many struggling to come to terms with the loss of a man they describe as a dedicated and selfless leader.
In Akyem Wenchi, the MP’s hometown, residents spoke of his unwavering commitment to improving the lives of his constituents. They recalled his relentless efforts to address local challenges and uplift the community.
“He was a man of the people, always ready to listen and act,” one mourner said.
As tributes pour in from across the region, scores of residents have gathered in groups, consoling one another and paying their respects to the late legislator.
The mood in Akwatia remains sombre as the community reflects on the legacy of a leader whose work, they say, will not be forgotten.
