Ms. Samia Yaba Christiana Nkrumah, the only Convention People’s Party (CPP) Member of Parliament (MP) is determined to help her Party become a stronger one.
According to the Daily Dispatch newspaper, which asked her in which capacity she intends to operate to achieve the objective during an interview – whether as the 2012 presidential candidate or in a national executive position - Samia, the only daughter of Ghana’s First President, Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah said, “once the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC) meets and sets a date for elections, I will declare my interest in contesting for the position of Chairperson. The current Chairman, Mr. Ladi Nylander, has [indicated] his desire not to seek re-election.”
On whether she would be interested in contesting for the CPP’s 2012 presidential slot, Samia explained, “as far as I am concerned, I believe I can serve the CPP better by being in a position to help with the unification process between the CPP and the People’s national Convention (PNC). I believe that a united Nkrumahist party will be a formidable one.”
Samia, who celebrated her 50th birthday on June 23, 2010, was born at Aburi in the Eastern Region.
