An official of the School Health Education Programme (SHEP) says children knocked down by vehicles were those who normally ate while crossing the road.
Other victims of such accidents were children who engaged in conversations while crossing busy roads.
The official, Miss Gifty Brebu, who is the Awutu-Effutu-Senya District Coordinator of the SHEP therefore appealed to school children not to cross busy roads while eating or engage in conversation to avoid being knocked down by vehicles.
She said in such cases the children that were knocked down by vehicles were either playing, eating or conversing and crossing the road at the same time.
Miss Brebu was addressing school children from thirty basic schools in the district at separate meetings as part of her official tour of some schools in the area.
She advised the children to observe road regulations while crossing busy roads and urged them to avoid sex and other negative tendencies that could hinder their education but rather take their studies serious.
She told them to be mindful of their sexual behaviour to avoid contracting HIV/AIDS because the disease did not have cure.
