One more person has come out to accuse Grace Acheampong, an official with the Chief of Staff for illegally throwing her out of a government apartment allocated by the Works and Housing Ministry.

A fire officer with the Ghana National Fire Service, Linda Azor, said Grace Acheampong led five men to break into her Roman Ridge apartment at dawn.

In the March 6, 2017, incident, her belongings were moved into a garage and some left at the mercy of the weather.

Grace claimed, she was illegally occupying government property.

Linda Azor explained she has an allocation letter from the Works and Housing Ministry given to her in February 2017 after the New Patriotic Party government had been sworn in.

She said she is deducted 140 cedis monthly to pay for the accommodation as the Ministry's housing policy for government workers directs.

But Grace was unmoved and a new occupant, a police officer at the Flagstaff House named Adu Amankwah was given the building.

The fire officer said she reported the matter to the Nima Police Station and later went to see the Works and Housing Minister, Samuel Atta Akyea, to complain about the forceful eviction.

She told Myjoyonline.com, the Minister gave her a note to the Police Headquarters where the matter was referred to PIPS for investigations.

After three months, the police, she said, asked Adu Amankwah to vacate the property after he failed to produce an allocation letter.

The Police officer has not budged, she said and Linda has since been living with her auntie at a boys quarters at Roman Ridge.

Grace returned late to order her to pack out her belongs left in the garage.

On the last day of 2017 during watch-night service, the officer in the Chief of Staff's office once again threw out what was left of Linda's belongings.

Packed in a KIA truck, she drove them together with Adu-Amankwah to Linda's boys quarters at Roman Ridge.

It was at about 7:30pm. Grace taunted her after all efforts from Linda to assert her legal claim to the apartment failed.

"You can't do anything to me…my party is on power," Linda recalled Grace Acheampong's words. She said Grace laughed that her report to the Inspector General of Police (IGP) has now become a "foolish case".

Linda Azor said she is still being deducted monthly rent although she never got to stay in the house she was allocated in January 2017.

In her reaction, Grace Acheampong denied throwing out her belongings in March. She explained, the apartment was to be allocated to Adu Amankwah who is part of the security team at the presidency.

Linda got wind of the availability of the apartment after eavesdropping on her conversation with one Rahina, a woman who was preparing to vacate the two-bedroom apartment.

Mrs. Acheampong explained, Linda hurriedly proceeded to the Chief Director of the Works and Housing Ministry to quickly obtain legal permit to occupy the apartment.

She insisted Adu Amankwah has a rightful claim over the apartment and revealed, the Minister, Atta Akyea asked that a different apartment is allocated to the fire officer.

But Grace said Linda Azor rejected the offer for a different two bedroom at Roman Ridge and the property has since been allocated to another person.

Mrs. Acheampong accused Linda Azor of spreading false information and breaking into the apartment that contained Rahina's belongings as she prepared to vacate.

This is the second report against Grace Acheampong after a staff of the Auditor-General's Department, Abdulai Amin accused her of similar eviction last December.

Grace denied the accusation of inhumane treatment but stated Mr. Amin had been living in government quarters without paying rent.

Works and Housing Minister, Samuel Atta Akyea, has vowed to punish the presidential staffer who allegedly dehumanised the government worker in the name of the Presidency.
