Members of the Sissala West District Assembly on Thursday approved President John Agyekum Kufuor's nominee, Mr Baluwie N Salifu as the substantive District Chief Executive (DCE).
The 20-member house voted 100 per cent to confirm Mr Salifu, amidst jubilation and merry-making among his supporters and well-wishers who trooped to the Assembly Hall.
Mr Salifu thanked the assembly members for the honour done him and said his vision was to unite the people and mobilize them to promote revenue generation for the Assembly to undertake more development projects to benefit the people.
He said equitable distribution of development projects in the communities was a cardinal principle of his vision and appealed to the people to give him their cooperation to enable him to execute the short-term and long-term development plans of the Assembly.
Mr George Hikah Benson, Upper West Regional Minister, urged the people to give their fullest support to Mr Salifu in the same manner as they did in the voting to confirm him as the DCE.
He reminded the members that the development of the District should be of great concern for all and they must put in their best to ensure the rapid development of the District.
Mr Isaac Gyabon Wibonto, Presiding Member, said the core business of the Assembly was to reduce poverty among the people and for them to achieve this goal; there was the need for them to work with a good leader.
