The Minister of Youth and Sports, Hon. Clement Humado will launch this year’s edition of the National Sports Festival at the Media Centre of the Ohene Djan Sports Stadium on Friday, May 6.
The National Sports Festival which is being revived after seven years of inactivity will assemble about 5,000 sportsmen and sportswomen in the capital city of Accra to compete for honours in 20 sporting disciplines.
The disciplines are colts soccer, Volleyball, Basketball, Handball, Netball, Boxing, Table Tennis, Badminton, Tennis, Athletics and Karate Do.
The others are Taekwondo, Judo, Hockey, Chess, Scrabble, Swimming, Cycling, Disabled sports and Weightlifting.
The participating teams are Greater Accra, Ashanti Region, Eastern Region, Western Region, Volta Region, Central Region, Ashanti Region, Northern Region, Upper East Region and Upper West Region.
The rest are Ghana University Sports Association, Ghana Police Service, Ghana Prisons Service, CEPS Ghana Polytechnic Sports Association, Ghana Immigration Service, Ghana Armed Forces and Ghana Fire Service.
