Officials of the Social Security and National Insurance Trust have refused to disclose details of a meeting held Monday to address concerns of workers occupying its flats.
The Trust has given an ultimatum to occupants of its rented flats to either buy them for 25 thousand Ghana cedis or move out by November.
Some of the workers have however petitioned the presidency on the matter.
The Civil and Local Government Staff Association (CLOSSAG) also indicated yesterday that it will employ all legitimate means to stop SSNIT from carrying out its plans.
Executive Secretary of CLOSSAG, James Amissah suspects the move is a ploy by SSNIT to hand over the flats to its staff.
He said he paid ¢12.5 million in 1994 and has since been paying rents.
“So if today you are changing the portfolio, you are not making any repairs and you claim you are making repairs then of course give me the option; more time and then calculate and deduct the rent I have paid and let's agree on the price.
“…You use my own money to put up flats and then you are selling it at a price I cannot even afford."
