A pressure group, Truth and Accountability Forum (TAF) will hit the streets Thursday in protest over recent hikes in utility tariffs.
The demonstration by (TAF) will be the first demonstration against the hikes as Labour Unions have also given a ten day ultimatum for government to review the tariffs or risk facing numerous strikes and demonstration.
The Public Utilities Regulatory Commission (PURC) announced a 78.9 percent for electricity and 52 percent for water, a move which has been highly criticized by the public.
Government has not been spared the backlash as some citizenry accuse government of not doing enough to protect the vulnerable groups in the country.
On Thursday, TAF will hit the streets in what is likely to be the first in series of protests against the tariff hikes.
A statement signed by the group says it would continue the agitation until "this obnoxious and draconian tariff is withdrawn."
"Government’s insensitivity towards the people has taken a legendary status that explains why the use of that nebulous and elusive ‘’I CARE FOR YOU’’ propaganda dictum has now completely ceased from their vocabulary," the statement added.
The Police have meanwhile confirmed their readiness to supervise the demonstration.
Greater Accra Police PRO, DSP Freeman Tettey said the group has complied with the dictates of the Public Order Act and will receive police protection throughout the demonstration.
