Here are the stories that made the news Thursday:

1. NDC embarrassed by Mahama attacks

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) National Organiser has called for a cease-fire in the party after two senior members attacked former president John Mahama in separate interviews with Joy News. A disappointed Kofi Adams said the incessant open attacks are "hurting the NDC" and undermining its reorganization and unity efforts.

2. NCA Big Day in court

Director of Legal Services at the National Communication Authority Abena Asafu-Adjei has told an Accra High Court that $4m withdrawn from the NCA account to purchase cyber surveillance equipment was not approved by the Board. According to her, minutes of board meetings during the period, 2015 till date does not show any request and approval brought before members of the board.

3. Journalists robbed at media encounter with Akufo-Addo

Media watchdog, Media Foundation for West Africa (MFWA), has recommended journalists are allowed more time to ask questions at the next media encounter expected in the next half of the year. Executive Director, Suleman Braimah, said the Information Ministry, which organises the encounters, can free up more time by cutting out the President's monologue which lasted 40minutes out of the about two-hour encounter.

4. Akufo-Addo lauds instrumental role of Exxon Mobil

President Nana Akufo-Addo says close co-operation between Ghana and the world's largest publicly traded international oil and gas company, Exxon Mobil, will be instrumental in developing the country's oil and gas industry. He assured Exxon Mobil officials of his government’s commitment to helping them succeed in their operations, and urged them to “respect the terms of the agreement.” He said this as he welcomed officials of Exxon Mobil to the Flagstaff House Thursday. 

5. Second Lady Samira Bawumia pushes for legal action against social media impersonators 

The Second Lady, Samira Bawumia, is threatening legal action against those behind the creation of fake social media accounts in her name. Mrs Bawumia has also signaled a move to remove accounts that infringe on her intellectual property rights. Some of the fake accounts urged unsuspecting persons to share the Second Lady's photo to get her WhatsApp number or receive GH¢10 airtime.

6. CDD deplores Akufo-Addo over corruption comment

The Ghana Centre for Democratic Development (CDD-Ghana) has criticised the president for saying citizens who make corruption allegations against his appointees should first provide evidence. President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo made the comment during his media encounter on Wednesday. He said, “I have made it publicly know that anyone who has information about acts of corruption against any of my appointees should bring it forward and should be prepared to back it up with evidence.”

7. Information Minister says he doesn't own 4-wheel drive with customised number plate

The Information Minister says he does not possess a white Toyota Land Cruiser with a customized number plate. Mustapha Abdul-Hamid in a Facebook post on Wednesday said he has never used a white 4x4 wheel vehicle in his life. “Anyone who knows me well will know that I will never customize a vehicle registration number either in my name or otherwise,” he said.

8. Gov't committed to fiscal discipline

President Akufo-Addo has indicated that his government is committed to fiscal discipline to prevent the country from signing up for another IMF program. He gave the promise when he met the press as part of his one year in office. President Akuffo-Addo was responding to a question posed by a journalist about the government’s current borrowings which could take it back to an IMF program. The country was recently forced to sign an IMF program after experiencing some challenges with the economy.
