Deputy Commissioner of Police Kofi Boakye, the Ashanti Regional Commander, says the police are adequately prepared to provide security for delegates who would converge in Kumasi for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) national congress.
He reminded all to get right with the law and warned that nobody would get off lightly with any infraction of the law.
He said the police would not leave anything to chance and would act decisively to make sure the event passed off peacefully. Speaking to newsmen ahead of the congress expected to attract in excess of 3,600 delegates, DCOP Boakye, gave the assurance that enough officers would be on duty, but would not go into any further details.
He said there would be strong police presence at the various hotels to prevent criminals from exploiting the situation to cause misery to any of the visitors, adding that Divisional and District commanders would collaborate with hotel managers to assure clients’ safety.
DCOP Boakye said normal police patrols are being strengthened and intensified.
Barring any unforeseen development, the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) would hold its delegates’ congress on Saturday, December 20, to elect new national officers.
