The troubles of the beleaguered DCE for Ahafo Ano South, Gabriel Barima, popularly called 'Tweaa DCE' seem far from over.
Reports indicate that Mr. Barima had been to a medical facility at Ejura in the Ashanti Region for an undisclosed ailment.
According to the source, the sacked DCE had a problem with staffers of the Mankranso Government Hospital in his area and so he could not visit the place for medical treatment.
The embattled DCE, the source added, was hospitalsed on arrival at the Ejura Hospital due to the severity of his ailment.
The source said he was missing in action during a handing over ceremony at the assembly at Mankranso on Wednesday.
Mr. Barima, ideally, should have been present to hand over his documents to the Deputy Ashanti Regional Minister, Samuel Yaw Adusei, who attended the meeting.
According to the source, Mr. Barima's absence from the all-important function was not intentional, explaining that the man was receiving treatment in the hospital.
Meanwhile, the Coordinating Director for Ahafo Ano South, Mohammed Yahaya, has confirmed that the handing-over ceremony took place at Mankranso.
He however refused to comment on what prevented Mr. Barima from attending the important function, stating that "we have duly handed over to the Deputy Regional Minister."
When asked whether he was aware that Mr. Barima was on admission in a hospital, Mr. Yahaya retorted, "I am not ready to comment on such issues."
It is not yet clear whether the DCE's alleged illness had anything to do with his dismissal by President Mahama for not conducting himself well at a public function a few months ago
