A Ugandan activist Namata Serumaga-Musisi has been appointed to the Economic Fighters League as its head of Creative Arts and Advocacy Command.

A press release from Ghana’s far left political movement highlighted Namata Serumaga-Musisi’s architectural background as a suitable fit in helping the movement use creative arts to highlight issues of social justice.

The Economic Fighters League is a pan-africanist movement with affiliations to like-minded movements in Africa.

The League has in recent times called on Ghana to cut off diplomatic ties with South Africa over rising xenophobia and also called on the youths of Uganda to rise up against 74-year old Yoweri Kaguta Museveni who has been President since 1987.

Some three members of the Economic Fighters League stormed Parliament in July to protest plans to build a new chamber. A member of the League.

A member of the League, Abeiku Adams was nominated in the MTN Heroes of Change, a program that recognises selfless service.

The left-wing political movement has also called for the replacement of the First-Past-The-Post system which declares a candidate a winner by a simple majority.

The group wants Proportional Representation system in which if a party wins say 10% of the votes it is allocated 10% of the seats, making every vote more significant in securing representation in parliament.

 

APPOINTMENT OF FIGHTER NAMATA SERUMAGA-MUSISI AS HEAD OF CREATIVE ARTS AND ADVOCACY COMMAND

It is announced for the information of all Fighters that Fighter Namata Serumaga-Musisi has been appointed as the Head of the Creative Arts and Advocacy Command.

As you are already aware she is no stranger at all. She is a revolutionary, a Pan-Africanist and human rights activist. Namata uses creative advocacy in her architectural work, she has designed plug in play spaces for children in some of Ghana’s market places. She has been using arts to push social justice in space making.

As an activist, she is a founding member of Uganda’s People Power Movement here in Ghana and currently serves as a Diaspora Coordinator.

In 2018 she mobilised Ghana #FreeBobiWine #FreeArua33 protest in August which helped push worldwide calls for his freedom; she organised Accra #StandWithSudan march together with Fighters, All-African People’s Revolutionary Party, PANIO, NUGS and Abibitumi Kasa in June.

Let us welcome Fighter Namata to her new role and collaborate with her and the *Creative Arts and Advocacy Command* to push the vision of the Economic Fighters League (Fighters).
