The West Akyem Municipal Assembly on Tuesday unanimously resolved that an ex-gratia award of GH¢ 500 be paid to each member who had served for four years.
Those who served half of that period would be given GH¢ 250.00.
The decision was taken at the second ordinary meeting of the fifth session of the assembly held at Asamankese on Tuesday.
Addressing the assembly, the Municipal Chief Executive Seth Otchere praised the members for their co-operation and hard work which had raised the image of the municipality.
He said "All things being equal, the assembly shall overcome our present indebtedness which now stands at about GH¢ 700,000".
Mr Otchere said by the close of September, the assembly was expected to fully settle GH¢ 160,000 overdraft taken from the National Investment Bank, Koforidua branch.
"We shall therefore have a balance from the Common Fund that could be applied safely on our own to meet our financial commitments"
He said this, together with improved Internally Generated Fund and the District Development Facility, would give the assembly respite for the payment of its recurrent and capital expenditures.
