A 34-year-old trader, Akua Nyarko, has been sentenced to 60 months imprisonment in hard labour by a Kumasi Circuit Court for stealing a lap top computer, cell phone and an I-pod belonging to two medical students of the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH).
She denied the offence.
Police Inspector C.K. Attitsogbin told the court presided over by Mr Justice Emmanuel Amoh-Yartey that Miss Essinam Ama Ahetor and Miss Bendicta Ohene Manu are medical students residing at the KATH's hostel in Kumasi.
Nyarko, who resides at Obuasi, travelled to Kumasi on July 10 last year and visited his boyfriend at the hostel but she was informed that her lover had completed his course and had left.
The prosecution said entered one of the rooms whose door was left ajar and stole the items.
A report was made to the police and investigations led to her arrest and all the items were retrieved from her.
