Lawyers for the 15 suspects standing trial for their alleged roles in the murder of Ya-Na on Yakubu Andani Monday cross-examined the third prosecution witness who testified against their clients.
The witness, Ibrahim Saibu, has been told by the lawyers of making up stories to implicate their clients. But he has denied that, standing strongly by his account to the court.
Joy FM’s Cyrus de-Graft Johnson who was in court reported that the defence lawyers claimed that while the witness in a police statement included in the summary of evidence tendered by the prosecution said that the late Ya-Na at a point during the fighting ordered that his wives and children be taken out of the Gbewaa Palace because of the intensity of the fighting, he told the court that he didn’t know how the Ya-Na’s wives escaped from the palace.
The defence lawyers also pointed out that the witness was one of the warriors invited by the late Ya-Na to the palace but he denied that.
