According to information reaching the News-One paper, Ghana’s Minister for Tourism, Zita Okaikoi, has given birth to a pretty baby girl. The minister was recently in the news that she was pregnant and though a number of media houses have reported that she gave birth to a set of twins, News-One checks have indicated that Zita did not give birth to twins but a charming baby girl.
Zita and her husband, Andrews Okaikoi, already have a daughter. Close sources say the Okaikoi family is planning a talk-of-the-town naming ceremony soon to give the baby a name but in the meantime, she is affectionately called Dromo, meaning God’s grace.
Unlike other women, Zita has already resumed work and is running affairs at the Tourism Ministry barely two weeks after delivering her new baby and even before the naming ceremony.
This is an exceptionally positive gesture worth applauding because not many nursing mothers would do that, as most would have rather stayed at home and enjoyed cuddling their babies in their arms.
Being a Minister of State, many other women in her position would have taken several months off in the name of maternity leave. Zita’s attitude to work just after giving birth has won her the respect and admiration of many.
In service to her country, she leaves her new baby at home and runs around the Tourism Ministry handling her job with such ease, despite the hurdles associated with the Civil Service. Indeed, persons who did not see her pregnant would not believe she has just given birth.
When news went around that Zita was pregnant, her critics quickly sprang to her throat and claimed that she did not deserve to be a Minister simply because she was pregnant.
