Zoomlion Boss elected ESPA President

Dr. Joseph Siaw Agyepong, Executive Chairman of Zoomlion and JOSPONG Groups of Companies has been elected president of the Environmental Service Providers Association (ESPA). The Environmental Service Providers Association is an umbrella body of all the waste management companies in Ghana. Dr. Agyepong was unanimously declared winner of the Association’s election conducted at the offices of the ESPA in Accra. He is expected to run a two-year term from April. The Zoomlion boss pledged to continue his campaign for environmental cleanliness in the country. He also pledged to unite all the waste management contractors nationwide. He added that his administration would put new measures and structures in place to ensure that the nation becomes a number one tourist site. He intimated that he would assist the smaller waste management companies with equipment and logistics and also ensure that outstanding debts owed waste management contractors were paid. Dr. Agyepong who has already assisted the association to set up an office at East Legon said he would work with other executives to ensure that an executive secretary was employed. Outgoing President of ESPA Nana Ama Adobea who has now been elected vice president of the association, promised to support the newly elected president to ensure that the long fight against filth yielded fruits. Dr. Agyepong is a seasoned Ghanaian entrepreneur and industrialist who has received many awards and honours in his career. In November 2011, the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology conferred an honorary Doctorate Degree in Literature on him for his contribution to waste management and higher education in Ghana. Under his astute leadership, Zoomlion Ghana Limited has excelled in its area of operations in just seven years since its establishment and has been awarded by several institutions including the Government of Ghana, the Charted Institute of Marketing, Times of Africa, India, Price Warter House and Coopers and a host of others. Dr. Agyepong was also a finalist in the 2011 edition of Ernst & Young West Africa Awards for Entrepreneurs in the Masters category. Dr. Agyepong’s conglomerate has also grown very rapidly on the international front as Zoomlion and its subsidiaries continue to make positive impact in other African countries such as Togo, Angola, Liberia, Equatorial Guinea and Zambia. Dr. Agyepong owns about 47 companies mainly in environmental sanitation, oil and gas, mining, construction and real estate. Some of his companies are Appointed Time Screen Printing, J. A Plantpool, J. A Quarry, Creator Digital, Sino Africa Development, Zoil Services Limited and Zoomlion Ghana Limited. Other newly elected Executives of the ESPA are John Hagan of Darben Cleaning Services as secretary, Edward Asadu of Asadu Waste as treasurer and Anthony Adopko of J. Stanley Owusu as organizer. They all pledged their support and loyalty to the Association to transform its fortune. The Environmental Service Providers Association was formed in 2001 and has a membership of 17 waste management contractors with the vision to promote environmental sanitation activities and support one another in delivery of sanitation services among others.
