DR Congo coach, Claude Le Roy says the Black Stars are still favourites to win the 2013 Nations Cup despite their shaky 2-2 draw with his side on Sunday.
The Black Stars allowed DR Congo to come from two-nil down to split points with the Leopards in the opening Group B fixture at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium in Port Elizabeth.
Goals from Emmanuel Agyemang Badu and Kwadwo Asamoah gave the Black Stars a great start to the campaign but the Leopards came back strongly through strikes from Tresor Mputu and Dieudonne Mbokani's spot kick in the second half.
But Le Roy, who managed the Black Stars to a third place finish at the 2008 Nations Cup hosted in Ghana, believes Ghana alongside Ivory Coast are the teams to watch out for the AFCON title.
”They convinced me. Ghana and Ivory Coast are both good and that is the reason for today’s 2-2 draw,” said Le Roy in an interview with JOY Sports tournament correspondent Ridwan Ibrahim Asante.
“Ghana you know is the best team of Africa with Ivory Coast.”
Ghana play Mali, who are top of Group B on Thursday at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium in Port Elizabeth.
