Ghana striker Richmond Boakye-Yiadom will undergo further tests on Wednesday to check on his troublesome ankle injury.
Ghana team doctor Baba Adam will accompany the Sassuolo player to a local hospital in Summerstrand, Port Elizabeth for an MRI scan.
The youngster twisted his left ankle at the team’s pre-tournament training in Abu Dhabi two weeks.
Boakye has been training on his own since the Black Stars arrived in South Africa for the Africa Cup of Nations.
The 19-year-old was restricted to jogging during Tuesday’s training session at the Nelson Mandela University.
“It is Richmond’s response I will say is a little bit slow so tomorrow
(Wednesday) I’m sending him back to the hospital,” team doctor Adam said.
“We will do an MRI and see if there’s something we are missing. Otherwise I think giving what we have seen now, in four to five days he should be up and running.”
Boakye is unavailable for selection for Thursday’s crucial Group B match against Mali.
