The Ghana National Petroleum Corporation, (GNPC) headline sponsor of the national team, the Black Stars, has hailed the team for its swift and decisive 3-0 emphatic win over Niger to register a place in the next stage of the ongoing AFCON 2013.
“As a country we are encouraged by the tactical discipline and the positive fighting spirit you have exhibited in all your matches and we are convinced the excitement is yet to begin”, The chief Executive of GNPC, Nana Boakye Asafu Adjaye, said in a statement.
“We recognize that competing in Africa’s prestigious tournament is not an easy task. That is why GNPC and Ghana continue to stand united to cheer you on and give you all the support as you fight harder and soar to the next stage of the tournament,” he added.
He said “our aspiration as a nation in the beautiful game of football is to stand tall among the best on the continent to lift high our national flag. Our support is therefore to inspire you to show Africa and the world the unity and power of the Ghanaian Spirit.”
The statement further added “We encourage you to go into the next stage of the tournament with determination, perseverance, a winning spirit respect for teamwork and love of Ghana and victory will continue to be ours.”
“GNPC urges you to let the qualities that have characterized your game and led to your victory continue to find expression in your performance in the tournament.
“GNPC and all Ghanaians assure you of our continued support you as you progress to the next stages of the tournament.”
