Immediate-past Member of Parliament for the Adentan constituency, Kojo Adu Asare is calling for the head of Black Stars coach James Akwesi Appiah for failing to advance Ghana to the finals of the ongoing African Cup of Nations.
According to him, the 51-year-old coach has not lived up to expectation hence should be given the sack.
Adu-Asare's call comes after Bukina Faso beat Ghana on 3-2 penalties in the semi-final game Wednesday.
The shocking defeat has sparked off a debate on whether coach Akwesi Appiah should be retained ahead of the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.
But speaking on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen programme Thursday, an emotionally charged Adu-Asare blamed the coach for Ghana’s loss.
He questioned Akwesi Appiah’s decision to substitute Mubarak Wakaso; Ghana's best penalty taker at the dying minutes of the extra time when it was clear there would be penalty shoot-outs.
Adu-Asare said that decision prove that the coach and all the people on the technical bench were out of ideas.
He indicated that though he is in favour of a local coach, the ex-Ghana captain has proven not to be capable of grooming the team for the World Cup.
Adu-Asare called on the Ghana Football Association to quit the machinations in the group and focus on nurturing a strong team before the World Cup.
Meanwhile, the Black Stars will play Mali in the third and fourth-place playoff at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium in Port Elizabeth Saturday.
