President of Ghana John Dramani Mahama has charged the Ghana Football Association to focus on building a strong Black Stars team to qualify for the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.
Ghana will be chasing a third successive appearance at the World Cup after participating in the 2006 and 2010 tournaments.
The Black Stars recently failed to win a fifth Nations Cup title at the Africa Cup of Nations tournament in South Africa and President Mahama wants the FA to forget about their disappointments and focus on qualifying for the World Cup.
“I urge the GFA to take the necessary steps to building a more formidable team that will not only qualify for the World Cup but will surpass the achievements of their predecessors,” said His Excellency John Mahama at his first State of the Nation address to Parliament on Thursday.
Ghana will resume its campaign in the 2014 World Cup qualifiers next month against Sudan.
