Head coach of Glo premier league side Ashanti Gold, Bashiru Hayford says the target set for him by his new club this season is to avoid the drop.
The experienced Coach switched camps from top of the table Medeama Sc to struggling Ash Gold at the end of the first round of the League, signing a two year deal that would see him stay with the Miners till 2015.
The Obuasi based side struggled for most part of the first round which saw them fire coach Yaw Acheampong and his Assistant Kamara Dini after which they managed a fifth spot on the log, accumulating 24 points in the process.
The Former National U-17 team Coach has taken over the reins of the club and has told JOY Sports his primary task is to keep Ashanti Gold in the league.
"My target is to make sure we remain in the league this season and develop the talents in the lower ranks so that the team would be saved from excessively spending on players during the transfer window. My Job here is purely developmental not results oriented .We can think about trophies next season." he said.
Coach Bash however hinted he would not compromise with results from games in the second round of the league because of this target.
"Am not saying I don't care about the sort of results we would churn in the second round. I know this is a big club and fans deserve more. So i would do what am known for, per my records in the Glo league."
Ashanti Gold have been boosted by the inclusion of national team Goalkeeper Fatau dauda and Burkinabe right full back Henri Traore who bring along with them huge experience after excelling in the just ended Nations Cup in South Africa.
The Miners begin the second round of the Glo premier league with a difficult trip to the Golden City Park to face 4th placed Berekum Chelsea.
