Black Stars defender John Paintsil has been granted bail by the Legon police, pending investigations into alleged assault of his wife, Richlove.
The deputy skipper of the senior national football team was Friday arrested and put behind bars, for allegedly assaulting his wife.
Richlove Paintsil in a rather dramatic twist, denied reports she was assaulted and stabbed by her husband.
Greater Accra Police PRO Freeman Tettey had confirmed to Joy News the arrest of John Paintsil over allegations he stabbed his wife.
He said the Black Stars defender has been charged for assault and causing body harm.
Joy Sports Kwame Dwomoh Agyemang reported that Paintsil was released on bail late Friday, to enable the police further investigate the case.
Kwame said details of the bail conditions were not readily available as officers were reluctant to comment further on the case.
He said Paintsil’s wife was at the police station and led her husband home.
