International Bantamweight Organization aspirant, Joseph King Kong Agbeko has explained his decision to go in for accomplished coach and Black Bombers trainer Ofori Asare ahead of his impending bout against Colombian Luis Melendez on the 8th of March.
Agbeko will go into this fight on the back of a 15 month lay-off.
According to the boxer, the coach trained him during his days as an amateur and he is confident in his abilities to help him defeat Melendez.
“I have been with Coach Asare for many years. He saw me through my days as an amateur boxer. It is this level where boxers develop themselves in terms of speed, aggression and this I believe are the things I need to work on after such a lengthy lay off. That is why I have gone in for him and I confidently believe he can help me a lot on the day of the bout.”
Asare was the coach of the Black Bombers that participated in the London 2012 Olympics and he goes into this fight with a wealth of experience at the amateur level.
The Colombian boxer is expected in the country shortly to continue with his preparations whiles there are plans for media work outs and general promotional events ahead of this big bout which is the first world title to be staged in Ghana in twenty five years since Azumah Nelson last fought on home soil in 1988.
Tickets for the bout will be going for GHC 10.00 for popular stand and GHC 50.00 for ringside.
