Former Black Stars coach Emmanuel Afranie has expressed surprise at the decision by Jordan and Dede Ayew to quit the Black Stars and asked them to rescind their decision. The two players who ply their trade in France with giants Marseille communicated their decision through a letter to the executive management committee of the Ghana Football Association. Andre Ayew in his letter cited an ongoing fracas with some members of the Black Stars management committee as his reason for retiring whiles his younger brother Jordan Ayew cited his axing from the Black Stars Nations Cup squad at the time he believed he was in the form of his life. Coach Afranie who has managed a number of national team sides said in an interview with JOY Sports, he couldn't fathom why the young players at the peak of their careers would take such a decision. "Am surprised that the two young men would come out with such a decision at this time of their careers, when they are doing well, I don't think they can reconcile the reasons they gave in their letter to the GFA,"he said. He called on the Marseille duo to rescind their decision because the Nation needs their services for the impending world cup qualifiers. "Ghana needs them, especially at this time when we need every good player to help Ghana qualifier for the World Cup in Brazil .i think that they should do well to rescind their decision and offer their services to mother Ghana," he added.
