Ede bee K3k3 was originally the slogan used by telecom giants MTN, but in the heat of the 2012 elections, that slogan became the rallying cry of the ruling government, whose leader, President John Mahama first latched on it in the most quintessential fashion.
Three months after the elections, whose results are being challenged in court, the ede bee k3k3 slogan is fast losing its appeal among members of the NDC.
Interestingly it has become the slogan for members of the opposition NPP who are using it for humorous and sometimes mischievous purposes.
In an era where there is no light, no power, no gas and fuel prices have been increased, it has become fashionable for NPP supporters to shout ede bee K3k3 any time the light goes off or water runs out.
Residents of Teshie Tsuibleoo in the Ledzorkuku Constituency in Accra are no strangers to the erratic power supply, partisan politics and the tongue-twisting ede bee k3k3 slogan.
Anytime there is light off, as has become the norm these days, supporters of the NPP will shout “Ede bee k3k3.”
Myjoyonline.com’s Nathan Gadugah explores how the popular slogan on whose wings the NDC rode to power has now become an object of ridicule for the same party.
